40 years is a long time. Your house is amazing though. It shows all the hard work you've put into it. Thanks for getting Meme involved a bit too. She's quite the DIY'er!

It is kinda fun. As long as we don't rush it. I get frustrated when I'm in a hurry to be done and on to other things, like the next episode of Big Bang Theory and a glass of Lagavulin. It's not as fancy as the Man Cave of Shad Bay, but it's going to be nice when it's done!

Thanks again. Yes, B&Q. We just keep going back for more. Believe me, I'd love to just drywall over everything, not only would it be way easier to decorate, but it would add mass to the walls which should in turn reduce the impact vibrations from the upstairs neighbors. Trouble is, we have lovely plaster ceiling mouldings to account for. Pretty sure the new drywall wouldn't line up.

Thanks Jane! I don't know what we'd do without YouTube. Honestly, it's such an amazing resource. Books are good, but video... better!

Thanks Russ! I want to soundproof the ceiling in the dining room, and I think that job is a touch to big for me. Think the pros will have to come over for this one.

Looking good.

B&Q?

If it turns out those other walls _are_ like that, 1/4" drywall and filling the joints -- right over the old paper -- is this old lazy person's suggestion . . . you have to space out power outlets and switches, and maybe even radiators, but it'll be way more satisfying.

Hey guys... looks like a whole load of fun.

We've been at it for about half the time of Dad, but it's a project that never ends. Can be a lot of fun, though. Take it piece-by-piece and enjoy some good tunes and good conversation while working!

Lots of love,
-Jif

I am duly impressed. I can NOT do that stuff. I'm always astonished that anybody can. Me, I think rewalling would have been the option (I mean hiring a pro, by the way, to do the finishing once I got the drywall in place).

Ah, takes me back, it does . . . we've been at it 40 years last Hallowe'en, and haven't got it right yet. Some of it's fun, though.
